SmartStop Self Storage offers clean facilities as well as helpful, pleasant staff, however the way in which they bill customers is far from ideal or fair. After being a long-time loyal customer (i.e., referring 10+ family members and friends) I was informed that the monthly cost of my unit was increasing not by 5%, 10%, or even 20% but rather double. When receiving a bill for double the price, I thought this must have been a mistake. As such, I called SmartStop and spoke to a representative about my concern. I was told that this new price was correct and that if I wanted to keep my original pricing I could move all of my stuff out of my storage unit, request for a new unit and place it under a family members name. I do not understand why SmartStop would want to place their customers in such a predicament, inconveniencing them. This is very disappointing, nonetheless I continue to be a customer but had I known this would have happened I would have gave my business to another company that does not operate in such a manner. I can understand a price increase, but not double. This made be feel devalued as a customer - as if SmartStop does not care to keep my business or does not care about inconveniencing me.
